Hoffmeyer's is custom mill that can help you in duplicating or restoring your old porch (sometimes called a verandah). Perhaps you have 4 good posts and two rotten posts? We can turn two new posts to match the other four rather than having you purchase 6 new posts. Same thing goes for fretwork, bargeboards, corbels, spindles etc. We also offer wood T&G flooring, panelling and ceiling materials in shiplap or other patterns.
Hoffmeyer's Mill has a skilled staff with a combined working experience in this mill of 134+ years with current family ownership spanning 36 years and counting.
Double Click on the images below to change the photo and the text. Each trigger is labelled with a number that is connected to the correspondingly labelled "content" section. I think it makes sense to have two galleries per portfolio page. One for single photos, and another where you go into detail about specific projects and the challenges that made things interesting.

Gaspe, Quebec

Shelton, Connecticut
This historic building in Shelton Connecticut had beautiful arched windows that were badly in need of replacement. The customer removed one of the old windows and shipped it to us so that we could reproduce it as closely as possible. Using 2 1/4" thick African Mahogany as our material, we carefully figured out the appropriate layout, casings, and other embeshments. The stepped arch muntins meant our measurments had to be perfect as any errors would be extremely obvious. The result was, we made these windows like the old ones - except ours were even better!

Bayfield, Ontario
The Bayfield storefront project was challenging but also rewarding. Rather than just mimic the outline of the old window design, we were hired to directly recreate the incredible rounded mouldings that made these windows so unique. Many hours were spent recreating this lovely design and if you ever walk by the store in downtown Bayfield, you'll appreciate the level of detail and precision that went into this historic reproduction. The windows feature low E argon thermal units in order to conserve energy.
